In the latest news update to the Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo--Cedric Lee situation, Cornejo’s parents have finally spoken out about what happened and urged the public not to judge their daughter.

Navarro has received support from his girlfriend Tanya Bautista as well as fellow news anchors and others, while Cornejo’s support has been notably thin amid many more people believing Navarro’s story.

Navarro said that Cornejo and Lee tied him up and tried to blackmail him after leaving him beaten. CCTV footage appears to back up his version. Cornejo and Lee claim that Navarro was trying to rape Cornejo at her apartment when Lee and others happened to arrive and rescue her.

For the first time since the January 22 incident, Cornejo’s parents Dennis Cornejo and Ana Miles have spoken out about the situation.

Dennis said that he is in shock over what happened, calling it a “very sad incident.”

He added in the interview with GMA that he and Ana support their daughter and believe with their whole hearts that her story is true.

Miles said that she hates the situation and pleaded with people not to judge her daughter, saying that those full of malice have been leading the charge.

Dennis added a message to Navarro: “Sana siya maparusahan sa ginawa n’yang yan.”

Cornejo and Lee have been leveled with a string of criminal charges in the case, including illegal detention. Text messages obtained from Navarro’s cell phone back up Navarro’s story regarding the attempted extortion.

A hearing before the Department of Justice is slated for February 14.
