The Walking Dead season 5 premiere confirmed that the residents of Terminus were cannibals.

There is no denying the fact after a scene that showed ribcages hung up in a room.

In addition, Rick, Daryl, Bob, and Glenn were taken to a room with a feeding trough in which they were nearly killed. And in the room another man was being killed and it had a very cannibal-vibe.

When they escaped, the next room they entered had at least five human ribcages hanging from hooks. It appeared to be a one-time animal meat locker converted for humans.

Speculation about Terminus residents being cannibals started in season 4 after some pieces of evidence came to light that appeared to indicate that the were cannibals.

But none of the actors or producers in the show would confirm that it was the case.

One scene in the season 4 finale had especially strong evidence, showing a pile of bones with blood in the Terminus compound.

Now fans know that the people of Terminus were cannibals. Luckily, Carol came in to save the day.

“Just like to point out that I saw the pile of bloodied bones in S4, and I called the Terminus cannibal plot line then,” said one Twitter user.

“Terminus is basically a cannibal cult,” said another.

Mary told Carol that the residents started out trying to help people but that some people took over so the original group had to fight back.

A flashback later showed Gareth, Mary, and others in a flashback in the traincar, with Gareth resolving that they would take back Terminus. “You’re either the butcher, or the cattle,” he said.
