Students at Lanier High School in Austin, Texas have identified the student who killed himself today, Oct. 15, as Adrian Alvaresz.

A photo circulating on social media shows two Facebook updates from Alvaresz on Tuesday morning--one in which has says that he’s planning on committing suicide, and another that shows him pointing a gun at his head.

Police have confirmed that a male student shot himself at the school and that he died from his wounds, but still haven’t officially identified the student as of Thursday.

According to Adrian’s Facebook page, he had a one-year-old son.

In his message on Facebook, he said that “I don’t know if this is going to affect people or if ya'll are even going to care but I just want to say I’m taking my life away, not for my Ex but cause I’m tired to be who I am.

“I have give my mom alot of pain, trouble,” he continued. “I just want to say I’m sorry. Also, I’m taking my life away cause everyone has always put me to the side, I had try asking for help. My life hasn’t been easy.”

Students had mixed reactions.

“He said he was going through a lot of stuff. He put pictures up before he did it. Nobody believed him until he did it,” Elias Nieto, a Lanier High School student, told KVUE.

“I’m really shocked for my sister because my sister saw what happened, and she’s very young for her to see that, and I’m really shocked that it happened here,” said Destany Torres, another student.

Others shared their thoughts on Twitter.

“Prayers to his mom, his baby, and to Lanier Hs. No one should go through that ever,” said one.

“I don’t care If I didn’t know him my prayers still go out to his family its called having respect !!!!!!” said another.

“If i would of seen that picture before!! :'( srsly crying,” said a third.

“Prayers go out to Adrian’s mother.. She’s going to have to stay strong,” said another.

Alvarez’s mother later told KVUE that she couldn’t believe what happened. Her son called her from school asking to leave early, and she told him no. He ended the call with “I love you mom.” She told him back: “I love you, too.”

The mother says she wishes someone had paid more attention and picked up on warning signs, adding that she doesn’t understand why he took his life.
