On Feb. 11, an event in Long Island City will raise awareness to end violence against women and girls—through laughter.

The comedy night at The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City is being held in conjunction with the 1 Billion Rising For Justice campaign.

The 1 Billion Rising For Justice campaign started on Feb. 14th 2013. According to the campaign website, one billion people in 207 countries demanded an end to violence through dance.

The evening will feature an improv starting at 6 p.m. followed by stand up comedy, as well as a silent auction.

The evening will be hosted by Peggy O'Leary of the “Women in Comedy Festival” in Boston and Bonnie MacFarlane of “Comedy Central Presents” and “Last Comic Standing”.
