JERUSALEM—A special Israeli military cabinet of nine senior ministers is set to meet within the hour, according to the Israeli press. The council will reportedly be discussing options for continuing Gaza operations.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts and pressure from other countries to cease fighting have not let up. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sending their foreign minister to Gaza on Tuesday with an Arab ministerial delegation. Egypt is characterizing the visit as a way to “express solidarity with the courageous Palestinian people.”

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has continued to plead for an end to the fighting and has been calling for an immediate ceasefire. He is due to arrive in the region on Tuesday.

“I am heading to the region to appeal personally for ending the violence and contribute to ongoing efforts to that end,” he said in a statement.

Earlier in the day on Monday, a media building was struck by Israeli forces, leaving one dead and four injured. Israel said the strike was aimed at “a cadre of senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives who were hiding in a media building in Gaza.”

It was the second time in two days that the building, which has offices of foreign journalists, had been hit. Ramaz Harab, who Israel said was involved in propaganda, was killed.
