Shen Yun’s Integrated Backdrop Really Helps Tell a Story

“It’s wonderful. It’s great to see that some of the beliefs that they are dancing with are some of the beliefs that we would hold also. So I was particularly impressed with the Creator and the references to God. So I liked that.”

“It’s incredible. I guess I hadn’t realized that the Chinese culture goes back, I think 4,000 years. I was thinking that one of the dances was 2,000 years ago and I was thinking how sophisticated their culture seemed to be … I think of Roman times and these people hadn’t met each other yet. So it was kind of interesting to see our Western culture and their Eastern culture which I know very little about. Just seeing some parallels here — that is  interesting.”

“It’s a very pleasant way to transmit feelings, thoughts about the culture, backgrounds. It’s non-offensive enough to enjoy the music and enjoy the dance and yet there’s meaning behind it, to take a moment to reflect on the meaning of what’s being portrayed.”

“Athletic is beyond question, their athleticism, to be able to dance the way they are… at the speed that they do just is incredible. The choreography is unbelievable. Especially the back screen. The live performance with the movie type of performance, how [they’ve] integrated that with the music. I mean, … it really tells a story.”
