CHICAGO—Jay and Leslie Zvolanek witnessed 5,000 years of divinely inspired civilization through the premier classical Chinese dance and music company, Shen Yun Performing Arts.

They attended the performance at Chicago’s Civic Opera House on April 4.

Mr. Zvolanek, a dentist, was most impressed with “the colors and just the athleticism that was involved,” he said.

“I really, thoroughly enjoyed everything about it,” said Ms. Zvolanek, a project manager in internal marketing for small companies, including dental offices.

She also enjoyed “the athleticism, the compositions, the music, certainly the beauty and the grace and the strength of all the dancers. I would like to see more!” she said.

“I just wanted to say that part of the amazement was watching all the costuming, just fabulous,” she added.

Shen Yun made Ms. Zvolanek feel “just stunned, just absolutely stunned! I really enjoyed it,” she said.

“We have been to China and it expanded our view even more, and its really wonderful,” she explained.

Both the Zvolaneks enjoyed the spiritual nature of traditional Chinese culture: “I enjoyed it very much. It was very enlightening,” said Ms. Zvolanek. Her husband chimed in, “It was nice.”

She further explained, “It was really inspiring. It peaked my interest as well.”
