Samantha Dodson, 13, is feared to have ran away with 40-year-old Kelsey McCune, a friend of her father’s, in Oregon, reports say this week.
Reports on Wednesday said that Dodson went missing after she ran away from home, leading the FBI and state law enforcement to lead a search.
Dodson, who is from Oregon City, may have ran away with McCune, who is described as having a glass eye, having a salt and pepper beard, weighing around 170 pounds, and is around six feet tall, KPTV reported.
Dodson was described as 5 feet 4 and 125 pounds.
The Associated Press reported that the two might be searching for a place to camp.
“I was in shock, it jolted me,” sister Sarah Dodson told KPTV. “We’re just so concerned for her safety. We love her, and we want her to come home.”
“Kelsey is a family friend of my parents. I met him a couple times in passing, but they’ve known him for years, and I know he was recently down on his luck,” added Sarah Dodson.
The family believes the teenager was communicating with McCune without them knowing.
The SWAT team on Thursday was searching the woods around Oregon City for the two, reported OregonLive. Many homeless campers use the woods.
“We don’t have a solid lead that they might be there,” Sgt. Robert Wurpes, a Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, told the website. “But that’s close to where the girl was last seen and we figured the SWAT team was the best equipped to handle that kind of terrain.
Officials said the McCune doesn’t have a criminal history and Dodson has no history of running away.
Locals who see Dodson or McCune is urged to call 911.
