‘Our brothers and sisters from quite a long way away’

“Got a thing in the mail and I decided to go for it. I don’t know why. I had never been attracted to anything Chinese so I just thought I’ll just go do this and see if I have any different feelings and I think I have more appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture.

“I love it. The colors are beautiful. The history is amazing. And the dancing is superb.

“These are our brothers and sisters from quite a long way away and we kind of missed each other in history but we’re going to get back together again I think. I think China will change. I think it will be more free.

“It’s going to bring a lot of discussion among people that have no history before for an understanding of history. There’s not too much history in education these days. This is where we get it now: entertainment. And [Shen Yun is] bringing it.

“China has gone through many changes and of course the oppression that goes on in China has what’s stopped so much talent and brilliant people that have a lot to offer in the world and I love to see this.
