[xtypo_dropcap]W[/xtypo_dropcap]hile accompanying narcotics officers in the arrest of Alberto Colon early Sunday morning, police officer Andrew McCormack accidentally shot the suspect’s 76-year-old father, Jose Colon, in the abdomen.

According to the New York Times, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly later visited the injured man at Jacobi Medical Center. Jose Colon is reported to be in stable condition.

Sunday’s narcotics-related arrest added to Alberto Colon’s long list of offenses.
