Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes paid tribute to Police Lt. Giuseppe (Joe) Petrosino at ceremony held on Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.

The event marked the centennial anniversary Lt. Petrosino’s assassination, while he was pursuing an organized crime case in Italy.

District Attorney Hynes was joined by two descendants of the slain lieutenant, his granddaughter Susan Burke, and his grandnephew Joseph Petrosino, deputy district attorney in the Rackets division.

Monsignor Robert J. Roman, deputy chief chaplain at the New York City Police Department, participated in the ceremony, during which a memorial plaque was unveiled in honor of the lieutenant.
