NEW YORK—Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and various other city officials issued statements on Wednesday expressing grief over the death of Patricia Dolan, a community and civic leader.

Dolan was struck and killed instantly by a car on Tuesday night while crossing Hillside Avenue while she was on her way to the Transportation Committee meeting of Community Board 8 in Queens.

Dolan was the president of the Flushing Meadows Corona Park Conservancy, the Queens Civic Congress, and the Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association. She was also a 20-year member on Community Board 8 and a member of the Traffic Safety Board.

“The heartbreaking passing of Patricia Dolan has shaken the thousands of New Yorkers whose lives she touched as a devoted advocate for the Queens community,” said Stringer. “She will be forever remembered as an individual of fearlessness and integrity, whose service to New York City was truly lifelong.”

He also said that he will dedicate the upcoming five borough transportation conference in remembrance of Dolan, who had helped shape the conference.

Queens Borough President Helen Marshall also issued a statement saying, “The people of Queens lost a terrific and tireless leader who fought with knowledge and passion for libraries, senior citizens, parks, children, transportation safety, and every other issue that affects all of us.”
