Neetzan Zimmerman, who gained fame for getting tens of millions for Gawker through his “viral content,” is leaving Gawker.

John Cook, an editor at Gawker, announced the news on Friday via Twitter.

“Sad to say @neetzan is hanging up his viral guns for a start-up,” Cook said.

Zimmerman confirmed that he’s leaving with Capital New York.

Zimmerman, 32, was discovered to be generating more than 30 million page views a month for Gawker, according to a chart of the company’s traffic published online.
