Nala the Hedgehog has apparently died, according to the main Twitter account. Users were tweeting “RIP Nala” on Friday night.

The owner wrote: “Today at 10:45 p.m., Nala was put to sleep. I know this post may seem long and unnecessary to people who have no attachment at all to this hedgehog.”

The owner wrote on Twitter: “I finally stopped crying and then I went and grabbed Nala’s bowl to feed her out of habit and then remembered and started crying again wow .”

Before, the account wrote Nala went “anesthesia right now to get x-rays and other tests done to hopefully find out why.”

According to, “The hedgehog got its name because of its peculiar foraging habits. They root through hedges and other undergrowth in search of their favourite food – small creatures such as insects, worms, centipedes, snails, mice, frogs, and snakes. As it moves through the hedges it emits pig-like grunts — thus, the name hedgehog.”
