Gamers are wondering about two upcoming games from Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 15.
Release date rumors about both have been flying around for some time and have unfortunately not been completely clarified yet.
However, Tai Yasue, the game’s co-director, said that development of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 isn’t getting in the way of developing 3.
“We’ve been working full throttle,” Yasue told GameInformer. “It’s moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn’t impede Kingdom Hearts III. I’m actually very excited about Kingdom Hearts III.”
He did say that 2014 is the year of 2.5 for Square Enix, referring to disappointment that a trailer for Kingdom Hearts III wasn’t shown at E3.
“Making teasers and trailers really does require a lot of work, and we just wanted to get the development moving along quickly on Kingdom Hearts III, so this year we really focused on 2.5,” he said.
Yasue also said that the game will be a mix of old and new worlds.
“Whenever we come up with worlds for Kingdom Hearts, we want to have them be varied. You don’t want the same type of world, so we will have different categories. That will make it feel fresh, like you’re having an adventure.”
He also hinted that Frozen characters/worlds would appear in the game.
A Final Fantasy 15 trailer was also not shown at the convetion, but Sihinji Hashimoto, a producer at the company, said that the game development is going along smoothly and that information will be released later this year.
