Justin Bieber ‘Legally Changes Race to African American’ is Fake; Never Claimed He’s ‘Black,’ But in Deposition with Photographer

Bieber’s court cases on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border might not just lead to more scrutiny by judges and prosecutors, but could also complicate the pop star’s jet-setting ways. Legal experts said the decision by Toronto authorities to charge Bieber with assault on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, makes the singer’s legal situation more complicated and difficult to untangle. Justin Bieber did not “legally change” his race to African-American, but a hoax article is saying otherwise. The fake report comes as Bieber this week was at a deposition involving the alleged beating of a photographer in 2013.

The article--which claims Bieber said that “now I’m not acting black, because legally I am black”--was published on “satire” news website Cream Bmp Daily.

“Justin Bieber who has a net worth of $160 million is now legally the richest African American under 21 and plans to join the United Negro College Fund board to become one of the largest donors toward the education of African American men and women,” the fake report continues.

CREAM, which describes itself as the “most entertaining page of the day,” has a disclaimer on its website, saying it doesn’t publish real news.

“CreamBmp.com Written by comedian CREAM. This website is comprised of satire and parody of current news and urban culture. For entertainment purposes only,” it says.

Bieber was at a Miami deposition on Thursday over whether his bodyguards were told to beat a photographer, Jeffrey Binion.

Gossip site TMZ and People magazine reported that Bieber, 20, cursed and stormed out of the deposition several times.

“When Binion’s lawyer Mark DiCowden took Bieber to task regarding these attacks, Bieber stated that he simply couldn’t recall the occasions,” a source told People magazine. “Bieber appeared to have selective amnesia, used constant facial gestures and dropped the F-bomb during the deposition.”

Bieber allegedly left the room after DiCowden asked about an incident between Bieber and the photographer when he and Selena Gomez, the singer and actress, were together.

“This was a hot button topic, and he flipped out. He didn’t answer and left the room,” the source said. “His lawyers said this was harassment and advised him not to answer.”

AP update: Police video of Bieber’s urine test released

MIAMI (AP) — Police video of Justin Bieber giving a urine sample for a drug test after his arrest on driving under the influence and other charges was released by prosecutors Thursday, with sensitive portions blacked out as ordered by a judge.

The clips released Thursday show the 20-year-old singer standing behind a low partition to provide the sample. A black box is imposed over his lower half to conceal any glimpse of his genitalia. The clips show Bieber being handed a cup by a police officer and later handing it back.

The video is part of nine disks of Miami Beach Police Department video sought Florida under public records laws by The Associated Press and other news organizations. Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield agreed earlier this week with Bieber’s attorneys that some segments should be redacted to protect his privacy.

Altfield said that even in jail, Bieber’s “expectation of privacy should stay with him.”

The drug test is key to Bieber’s driving under the influence case because it found evidence of marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in his system. Bieber also was charged Jan. 23 with resisting arrest and having an expired license. He has pleaded not guilty, and another status hearing is set for next week.

A breath test detected some evidence of alcohol after Bieber’s arrest, but it was below the 0.02 threshold in Florida for underage drivers. Bieber and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff —driving a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, respectively — were pulled over for what police called an illegal street drag race, although they were not charged with drag racing.
