The mayor of Irvine, California, is asking her constituents to join her in slowing the spread of COVID-19 through a series of mitigation efforts.
“Irvine residents and businesses recognize that protecting our community is a shared responsibility and have put many health guidelines into practice over the past nine months,” Mayor Farrah Khan said in a press release. “As we begin the new year this pledge encourages each of us to renew our commitment to caring for our neighbors, friends, family, and our community as a whole through our actions.”
The initiative, called Irvine Cares, is the first launched through the city’s recently established COVID-19 task force. It encourages the public to slow the spread by wearing a mask, social distancing, and staying home when sick. It also asks residents to show kindness by advocating to protect the city’s most vulnerable, and promoting best health practices.
