Semih Bulut and his family were undergoing financial hardship, in a state of fiscal insolvency.

The bankrupt family were forced to sell their properties, including a building in the Kumkapi quarter of Istanbul, Turkey.

On April 27, Bulut flipped. Armed with a rifle, he walked into the IS Bank branch located on the ground floor of his family’s property.

After stealing 30,000 Lira ($10,600) from the bank, Bulut went to the balcony above the bank.

There, as can be seen in the video above, the young man proceeded to throw the stolen money off the balcony.

In the video below, the bills can be seen strewn all over the street. Turkish police were forced to collect every last bill.

Ranting and yelling off the balcony about his family’s financial trouble and protesting the sale of the property, Bulut fired his weapon in the air.

Police argued with the distraught man for 4 hours before he was apprehended. Bulut was calm and well-dressed at the time of his arrest.

On April 28, Bulut was taken to court. “I only wanted to express my troubles to the President of Turkey,” Bulut told the Press.
