A Houston jury convicted a man of sending threats against federal law enforcement agents. He had e-mailed and called the threats from the Houston Public Library.

Jeff Henry Williamson, 45, of Jackson, Miss., could be sentenced to five years in prison and fined $250,000. He will be sentenced June 2.

Using library phones, he called the U.S. attorney’s office voice mail system and said he would shoot people in the office unless the government stopped harassing him. FBI agents traced the calls. They found him at the library on June 11, 2008, and warned him not to threaten officials. He made more threats via e-mail.

On June 27, 2008, he wrote “Please advise FBI Director Mueller I will take justice into my hands and blow the front of the J. Edger Hoover Building off to get everyone’s attention then the CIA HQ and DOJ.“ He sent the message to United States attorney’s office in Houston, the Department of Justice inspector general and the House Select Intelligence Committee.
