Famous Hong Kong Human Rights Attorney and Member of Hong Kong Council Ho Chun-yan, expressed his support to the Canadian independent team investigating claims that the Chinese Communist Party is harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in forced labor camps and then killing them.
Ho, a supporter of human rights inside mainland China, said that if the public want to stop these human rights violations, it is most important to disclose the truth.
The investigation team, composed of former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia Pacific David Kilgour and Renowned Human Rights Attorney David Matas, has requested authorization to enter into China to collect evidence. In an interview with The Epoch Times on June 16, Ho indicated that since March when he heard about the Chinese Communist authorities harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners, he felt distressed. However, he felt carrying out an investigation could be very difficult for many reasons. He also considered it to be very positive for famous Western figures to organize an independent investigation team and write reports.
“If foreign persons, including [ones in] the legal profession, political circles, and famous people are concerned about human rights and are willing to shoulder the responsibility and accomplish investigation reports, it is absolutely worth supporting,” Ho said.
On June 2, the investigation team made up of the two famous figures sent in their request to enter into China to carry out an independent investigation and collect evidence, but they have still not received a reply. Ho indicated that if the Chinese Communist refuses to issue visas, it could be considered as them having a guilty conscience.
“If the Chinese Communist regime has nothing to hide, they should welcome investigators from abroad to come and examine for themselves and make public the truth to the world. If the Chinese Communist, the mainland officials, or the Sanitation Authorities felt they were unjustly denigrated by the Falun Gong practitioners, they should welcome this independent investigation. The longer they refuse the investigation, the more concerned I am. I will continue to address to the Chinese Communist regime their responsibility to face up to this accusation, for there are reasons to suspect it.”
Stop These Violent Acts from Happening Again
Ho said that as a human being, he absolutely will not endure the behavior of forced harvesting of live organs in modern society.
“This is not only encroaching on human rights but also being inhuman. This kind of behavior brings shame to the whole Chinese nation and the families of the victims will face a very painful existence.”
He mentioned that at present not only the persecuted groups should speak out, but also everyone should do their best to prevent this violence from appearing again.
As for how to stop this violence, Ho thought the most effective method is to disclose the truth. He said, “Now if the authorities don’t want to reveal the truth, they won’t allow people to investigate. On the other hand, it is more indignant for the government to wholly endure these events of organ-harvesting on live people, and have no consideration for human lives.”
Suspect the Communist Regime’s Resolution of Forbidding Organ Trade
Since the news of organ harvesting from live persons in China’s concentration and labor camps was revealed to the media in March, the Chinese Communist regime issued an “Interim Regulation for Human Organ Transplant Practice” at the end of March, and planed to carry out the regulation in July 1, but the outside world suspects they postponed the execution for three months in order to keep harvesting live organs and hiding the evidence by incinerating the bodies. Even though the communist regime will execute the regulation to forbid organ trade on July 1 this year, Ho was doubtful if the Chinese communist regime would make all doctors in the hospitals understand the principles and adhere to the regulation.
During the interview with Canadian Epoch Times journalist on June 12, the Canadian investigation team member David Matas indicated that it did not matter if they were not allowed to enter China at the moment, because they have a lot of data in hand and will make public their investigation report at the end of June at the earliest.
Ho said “If they are proven to be true, many leaders in the Chinese Communist regime will shoulder unforgivable responsibility and become accomplices involved in violating human rights, killing people, and inhuman behavior.”
