“Grand Theft Auto V” for the PC is still up in the air, but some modders are recreating the game for “Grand Theft Auto IV,” which is on the PC.Empire and Return of the Jedi, are all sort of more about people than the ones that followed.”

On GTA Forums, a modder said they are trying to bring the “GTA V” experience to the PC.

The modder, ZZCOOL, said it is a “project a friend [and] I have been working on.”

He also posted a video and screenshots of the mod. “It will in no way never replace the experience you get from gta 5 it is just an experiment to show you my subscribers and viewers that i can provide something noone else can, it’s what i have always strived to do,” he wrote on YouTube.

“When GTA V won’t come to PC, the PC comes to GTA V,” wrote one forum poster. “Splendid job. Good luck with the future of this project. But I hope it won’t be a necessary one, for obvious reasons...”

But others said the “GTA IV” graphics engine is too old.

“Man, it really does highlight how old the GTA IV engine is, it’s cool seeing some of the map in the game, but looking at the video, it’s missing all the subtle things that was added in GTAV, the weather improvements, lighting improvements, wind dynamics, etc,” one wrote.

Added another: “Aw man, it still looks no where near as good as V, IV’s engine is outdated as hell.”

A Change.org petition to bring “GTA V” to the PC has generated hundreds of thousands of signatures.

In recent weeks, there’s been a few rumors of a PC version, including Amazon.com workers saying the game will be released in March 2014. Earlier rumors said the game would see a February release date, and there was supposed to be an announcement on Dec. 24, 2013, which never materialized.

In October, EuroGamer reported that a PC version might come out in the first quarter of 2014.

“[PC] gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin’s Creed 4,” Nvidia’s senior director of investor relations Chris Evenden said during a conference call in August.

RockStar has not confirmed the existence of a PC version of the game. Currently, “GTA V” is available for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, but it’s unclear if the game will be ported to the next-generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

“GTA V,” which is RockStar’s most popular game to date, was the fastest-selling game in history when it was released last summer, generating more than $1 billion in sales.
