At 67, Linda Parker, a grandmother, will finally walk the stage at the University of North Texas soon.

“This has been a lifelong dream of mine,” said Parker.

In 1968, Parker graduated from high school and went off to college for the first time. Parker has tried several times to finish her degree but life has always gotten in the way.

“I didn’t feel like I had the support system to help me get through it and I struggled. I ended up dropping out,” she said.

She got married, had two children and started working. She put her own life on hold to take care of her family.

Now Parker is achieving her dream.

After graduation, she wishes to work part-time for a nonprofit organization to help people with Alzheimer’s, the disease that robbed her mother’s life.
