The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) plans to probe Apple Inc.’s business practices in the mobile devices software market, specifically whether the company is hurting competition, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The FTC reportedly received complaints from Apple competitors Adobe Systems and Google Inc. saying that they are prevented full access to certain iPhone and iPad applications.

The iPhone’s App Store is the most popular smartphone application store in the market, with more than 150,000 applications available.
