Australia’s biggest private health insurers have agreed to pay a new single-room hospital rate of $892 for using public rooms.
While overall private health insurance coverage increased in 2024, premium revenue dropped by $52 million in the first half of the year.
The health minister said he worked with the sector to minimise the impact of the price hikes.
