Fritha King, a ballet teacher for 30 years, confirmed the Mid-Autumn Spectacular was aptly named after she took in the show on Sunday.
Actress Radmila Micic, well known in Toronto’s Serbian community for her efforts to raise money for child victims of war, described the final Toronto showing of the Mid-Autumn Spectacular as “an amazing experience.”
“It was extraordinary, fantastic. I have never seen so much colour and so much vivacity and so much performance in any show. It was one of the top events that I’ve ever been to.”
“It’s fascinating to see the difference in classical and traditional Chinese ballet compared to the strict ballet of Europe and North America today.”
A Toronto-based Chinese community leader and long-time supporter of art and traditional Chinese culture saw the Mid-Autumn Spectacular again this year and said: “Every year I feel it is great!”
The audience remained standing and applauding as the curtain fell, then rose, then fell again at John Bassett Theatre in Toronto Thursday night.
