The GOP-led Congress sent legislation to President Barack Obama Wednesday repealing his signature health law, fulfilling a promise to Republican voters in a presidential election year but inviting a certain veto.
Republicans said it was time to end “the pain and hurt” of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul as they pushed Wednesday toward Senate passage of legislation dismantling that law and blocking Planned Parenthood’s federal funds.
The math is harsh: The federal penalty for having no health insurance is set to jump to $695, and the Obama administration is being urged to highlight that cold fact to help drive its new pitch for health law sign-ups
