The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is shutting down its offices in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
The Los Angeles Police, the DEA and the US Postal Inspection Service are all looking into what was initially ruled an accident.
‘Approximately seven out of 10 fake pills contain a deadly dose of fentanyl, up from four in 10 pills in 2021,’ the DEA said.
The investigation started with the death of a young mother who died ‘almost instantly’ after taking a fake pill.
