The 2012 NASCAR Daytona 500 was hyped (as are all NASCAR races) as an epic contest, a once-in-a-lifetime (annual) event: The Great American Race, the promoters call it un-ironically.
Continuing rain has forced NASCAR to reschedule the Daytona 500, originally set to start Sunday and then postponed to Monday noon, to 7 p.m. Monday evening under the lights at the Daytona International Speedway.
The Daytona 500 may be the Great American Race as NASCAR claims, but it isn’t greater than Mother Nature.
