An e-mail claiming that a “Fallout 4” announcement will come on (12-01-14) Jan. 12, 2014, isn’t real.

On Reddit, a user posted an image with a purported e-mail from Bethesda Softworks, suggesting that the company will announce another “Fallout” game.

“Fallout 4 announcement? Email from Bethesda!” the post reads, and it shows the e-mail came from [email protected]

However, according to Cinema Blend, Bethesda marketing vice president Pete Hines said the e-mail is yet another hoax.

“You can setup an email to come from anyone. We don’t announce or tease our games thru emails from our store,” he wrote on Twitter, referring to the e-mail’s store@bethsoft origin.

A large number of Reddit users and other commenters said they received the e-mail, which says to “come visit our very special announcement.”

“I saw the email on my phone and I got this really weird feeling in my stomach. Oh god the hype,” wrote one Redditor.

Around a month ago, a fake “Fallout 4” website called Survivor 2299 duped many into thinking there would be an announcement. But Bethesda later debunked the site and its operator came clean, saying it was an elaborate ruse.

The website’s creator, who calls himself “DCHoaxer” on Reddit, wrote that he wasn’t behind the recent e-mail.

“Just to be on the safe side - i have no connection to this. In fact, i got the same email,” he wrote.

According to casting documents that were published by Kotaku, it appears that Bethesda is working on another “Fallout” title. The game is believed to be set in Boston, which is home to the Commonwealth. The main character is also said to have woken up from cryogenic sleep.

In the document, two characters were outlined, including a DJ named Travis Miles an a Vin Diesel-like engineer named Sturges.
