The FBI on Monday arrested the former chief financial officer of Houston-based LJA Engineering for allegedly stealing $3.5 million from his company.

Christopher McCullough, 47, was arrested at his home in Colorado by federal authorities for allegedly embezzling the funds from LJA—where he had worked in 2005 and 2006—to help pay for new homes.

According to the television station ABC 13, McCullough engaged in more than 200 fabricated transactions to transfer company funds from LJA’s accounts to his personal bank account during the period he was CFO. Using the illegally obtained money, McCullough purchased real estate and other properties in Texas and Colorado.
