Accounting for seasonal fluctuation, the number of people employed in the euro zone and throughout all the 27 EU member states was stable in the second quarter of 2010 as compared to the first when employment in member states dropped by 0.2 percent, according to Eurostat, the statistics office of the EU.

Employment in the second quarter fell by 0.6 percent with drops recorded in agriculture, manufacturing, construction, trade, transport, and communication services. Employment in financial services and business increased by 0.6 percent with rises in public administration, health, and education as well.
