HONG KONG—After the electoral victory for the 12th-term President of the Republic of China by the Kuomintang (KMT)’s presidential candidate, Ma Ying-jeou, the China Pan-Blue Alliance (CPBA) hopes that Ma will use Taiwan’s own experiences in democratization to influence the political reform for mainland China in the coming future. The CPBA also hopes that Ma will leverage Taiwan’s inheritance and development of both Eastern and Western culture to guide the cultural exchange between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The China Pan-Blue Alliance announced that all the members of the CPBA are greatly encouraged by Ma Ying-jeou’s success. They hope that Mr. Ma will lead Taiwan out of nonsensical political fights and no-load administration and move into a mature constitutional political system and thereby reviving Taiwan’s economy.

The CPBA also hopes that Ma will establish a cross-Straits common market and realize the promise of “three direct links (trade, travel and post) across the Taiwan Straits.”

The CPBA also expects that Ma will consider Taiwan’s current President Chen Shui-bian’s “peaceful integration between Taiwan and China,” emphasizing that such a strategy is not only for the people’s livelihood in mainland China, but also a judicious measure to safeguard Taiwan’s safety and security.
