Police have issued Canada-wide warrants for two suspects wanted in connection with a 2021 attack on an Ontario woman in an underground parking garage. The woman, Elnaz Hajtamiri, went missing less than a month later.

Police have already arrested five suspects, including the victim’s former boyfriend, and York Regional Police identified two new suspects in a March 23 news release.

Jaspreet Singh, 24, of Delta, B.C., and Sukhpreet Sing, 23, of Mississauga, Ont., are facing charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. The attack, in which Hajtamiri was struck with a frying pan, occurred in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Dec. 21, 2021.

Police responded to a call about the incident near Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue and Hajtamari was taken to hospital. She reportedly suffered a head injury that required 40 stitches. Police said the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

In 2022, three suspects were identified and charged in connection to the attack, with a fourth suspect arrested in February this year. A fifth suspect was charged on March 1.

Police said the men were identified “thanks to the support from the media and the public,” and they encouraged the suspects to obtain legal counsel and voluntarily turn themselves into police.

“Investigators are reminding the public that anyone who is, or has, assisted the suspects may be subject to criminal charges,” said the news release.

Missing More Than a Year

Police are still offering a $100,000 reward for information on the kidnapping of Hajtamari.
The woman, who also uses the last name Tamiri, was allegedly abducted over a year ago by men pretending to be police officers. Police say Hajtamari was forcibly dragged from a relative’s home in Wasaga Beach, Ont., by three men dressed in what appeared to be police uniforms, but the uniforms were not legitimate. They fled in what police believe to be a white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle, taking Hajtamari with them.
Hajtamiri’s sister, Aysa Hajtamiri, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, told CTV News that Hajtamiri was hiding with family members when she was abducted because her ex-boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, had allegedly begun threatening her.

Lilo was charged with abduction in relation to Hajtamiri’s January 2022 disappearance, as well as attempted murder and attempted abduction charges stemming from the frying pan assault in December 2021.

According to the OPP, Hajtamiri came to Canada from Iran less than five years ago. She is 5-foot-3, slim, and has black hair that she cut from a longer length before she went missing.

The investigation involves officers from York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.
