The former Poison-star-turned-television-personality Bret Michaels is currently under 24-hour surveillance at an undisclosed intensive care unit (ICU) due to recently suffering a “thunderclap headache.” His severe headache has lead the doctors to diagnose him with a possible brain hemorrhage.

Bret Michaels was rushed to the hospital last Thursday after developing a severe headache, which may have been caused by bleeding in his brain. The reports have not disclosed whether or not his headache was brought on by a head injury or by a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.

According to recent media reports, Michaels called for medical assistance after a throbbing headache. A source told People Magazine that Michaels described the pain in his ambulance call “like [getting] hit in the head with a baseball bat over and over again.”

The doctors diagnosed Michaels with a “thunderclap headache” and put him in the ICU for intense medical supervision.

A “thunderclap headache” is a tell-tale symptom for what is known as a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which refers to bleeding in the brain between arachnoid space and soft tissue surrounding the brain.

BretMichaels.com has received so much traffic since his medical mishap that it is not functioning properly and has posted multiple links redirecting visitors seeking new information on Michaels’ status.

The official update posted on Bret Michaels’ Facebook page stated: “Once again, we can’t thank everyone enough for all the well wishes and prayers being sent Bret’s way! Further testing this week will help locate the source of the bleeding.”

The official medical report from the doctors is expected to be posted this week at BretMichaels.com .
