Seth Green says the Batman in Batman vs Superman should not be Ben Affleck, though he later said that Affleck is a great actor.

Green told Larry King on Ora TV that he didn’t think Affleck is right for the role.

“If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans before all else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older,” said Green. “You need a guy who’s got more weight. You need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of.”

Green may be the most prominent person to voice opposition to the casting of Affleck, which got a lot of pushback from fans. Christian Bale decided not to be Batman again after appearing in three films as him.

Amid the virality of his comments, Green issued a statement clarifying his comments.

“For the record, I actually think Ben Affleck is a great actor, fantastic writer & excellent director,” wrote Green.

The new superhero film is slated to come out in May 2016 after being pushed back from next summer.
