Donald Trump defended campaign manager Corey Lewandowski at CNN’s Republican Town Hall on March 29. Lewandowski was charged with simple battery against ex-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields for an incident on March 8.

Additionally, Trump read Fields’s original report of the incident, pointing to her claim that she was knocked to the ground as inconsistent with the video.

In the days following the incident, Fields tweeted a picture of her bruised arm and resigned from her post at the website Breitbart saying that the website didn’t defend her enough.
