NEW YORK—Over 5 million passengers will be using the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s airports, bridges, tunnels, and PATH system throughout the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, according to the bistate agency’s predictions.

The Port Authority will provide more attention to customer service to ensure a smoother traveling experience during the rush. Welcome Centers will be open and available to provide travelers with information such as on ground transportation and hotels.

Of the 5 million people, 1.3 million will be using the major airports in the New York and New Jersey area. The Port Authority provides AirTrain service to both JFK and Newark airports. There will also be more customer service representatives on site to assist travelers.

No major construction projects are scheduled at the George Washington Bridge, the Holland and Lincoln tunnels or the three Staten Island bridges during the holidays to prevent traffic congestion at crossings.

All travelers are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
