Jodi Arias who was convicted of murder, says she contracted Hepatitis C while in an Arizona jail, where she awaits the death penalty trial of purportedly killing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

The trial received widespread media attention in 2013 when Arias was convicted of first-degree murder for killing her then boyfriend, salesman Travis Alexander in 2008.

TMZ wrote that Arias claims to have contracted Hepatitis C after she was injected with an infected Tuberculosis needle, and did not undergo treatment. Arias also said that the county Sheriff Joe Arpaio installed videos in her cell and made her recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning lest she go hungry for the rest of the day.

On April 4, Arias filed a restraining order for defamation against Arpaio and Headline News personality, Nancy Grace.

According to the Daily Mail, Grace publicly released the content of the love letters between Arias and Christopher Alexander, the cousin of Travis. The broadcast also said that Arias was cheating on Travis the day before he was murdered.

Arias is waiting a retrial with a possible sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.
