Apple Inc. apologized to consumers for technical difficulties in its iPhone 4 preorder system on Wednesday, issuing a statement saying that the errors have been corrected and that more than 600,000 orders have been placed for the next-generation smartphone.
“We apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock,” Apple said in a statement.
AT&T Wireless, the iPhone’s exclusive carrier in the United States, is suspending all preorders through its sites and stores.
