Amber Alert: Cassidy Geffert Arrested; Rochester NY Area 16-Year-Old Girl Found, Arrested

Cassidy Geffert, a 16-year-old girl from Greece, New York, has gone missing, prompting police to issue an Amber Alert.

UPDATE: Geffert has been found safe and the Amber Alert was canceled, according to reports. 

It was reported later on Monday night that Geffert was arrested. She apparently was never abducted, reported WIVB-TV.

Greece, New York, Police Sgt. Jared Rene told the station: “A concerned citizen called 911 in the Brockport area. They had spotted the vehicle mentioned in the Amber Alert and the female was then located with the vehicle, alone, unharmed, and at this point our agency can confirm that she was not abducted.”

 

AP UPDATE: Upstate New York teenager found; Amber Alert off 

GREECE, N.Y. (AP) — An Amber Alert for an upstate teenage girl has been canceled after the alleged victim was found unharmed.

Police in the Rochester suburb of Greece say they found 16-year-old Cassidy Geffert in the Brockport area about 15 miles west of her home.

The Amber Alert was issued earlier in the afternoon by New York State Police throughout much of western New York. It said the girl was taken from a Greece residence around 10 a.m. Monday.

The alert was canceled around 3 p.m.

Local media had reported that police said the girl’s cell phone was left behind, along with a blood-stained note indicating she was in danger. Authorities also reported the house was in disarray, with a knife on the floor and a .38-caliber handgun missing.

According to Greece police, the girl is 5-foot-6 and weighs 145 pounds. She was last seen wearing silky pajama shorts, the Amber Alert website says.

She has brown hair and blue eyes.

Geffert went missing from a location on Talnuck Drive in the town. A note was left behind that indicated she is in danger, according to the station.

Reports said the note had blood on it. Her cell phone was also left behind. 

No photo of Geffert was posted by police.

Police are searching for a black four-door sedan. The car is a 2006 SAAB with a New York license plate that has the number GMM9136.

Police said the vehicle is heading to Ohio.

Police said there was one “associated adult” in the case, but no name was released.

The Amber Alert website writes: “Victim left a note for parents indicating she was in danger. The note had blood on it and the victims cell phone. The household was left in disarray with a knife on floor and a .38 caliber handgun taken from home. A vehicle was stolen from scene.”
