NEW YORK—A drunk driver crashed into a bodega on 2nd Ave and East 4th St., striking eight pedestrians, leaving three in serious condition, according to NYPD.

The accident occurred a little after 7 a.m. on June 19. A car drove on the sidewalk and “took out some people,” a NYPD officer said on the scene.

Five people inside the vehicle are being treated.

As of 9:30 a.m., the car remains mangled on the sidewalk, along with crushed bikes. A bike rack was destroyed as well during the accident.

The impact of the crash was so strong that it sent a refrigerator flying through the front of the store, reported ABC.
