Health Canada has issued a recall of The Children’s Place baby and toddler boy basic stretch straight jeans due to choking hazard.

Released on Aug. 10, the notice said metal snaps on the jeans can detach and thus pose a choking hazard to children.

The recalled jeans are “Dustbowl Wash” style sold in sizes ranging from 6-9M to 5T. Only products with style number 3022341 and vendor number 7000541 are included in the recall.

“Products with a different vendor number are not covered by this recall. They are sold with either a UPC or SKU code,” the federal agency said.

The affected products were manufactured in Kenya, according to the notice. It added that 1,800 pairs of the jeans were sold in Canada and 46,700 were sold in the United States from September 2022 to March 2023.

“As of August 9, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada,” the agency said. “In the United States, the company has received 1 report of a detaching snap and no report of injury.”

Health Canada advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to The Children’s Place for a full refund.
