Commentary
There are at least six cataclysmic events threatening the American republic that the U.S. political class has instigated. Increasing press reports provide evidence of in-process cataclysms unfolding in the United States.
A cataclysm is defined as a “catastrophe,” “a momentous and violent event marked by overwhelming upheaval and demolition,” and “an event that brings great changes.”
Part I examined the first three in the context of recent news reports: Cultural Marxism, Green New Deal, and open borders. The remaining three ongoing cataclysms are discussed below.
Chinese Regime Infiltrates America
Beijing seeks to replace the current international order with a Chinese-led authoritarian socialist system in which individual rights, freedoms, and daily transactions among individuals are monitored and controlled by the communist-led state.The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has embarked on a campaign to infiltrate, influence, coerce, and ultimately subjugate the United States through penetration and corruption of U.S. institutions and key individuals.
It has become clear that virtually every sector of American society has been infiltrated and corrupted by Chinese money, as enabled by the political class. Some recent examples in the news include the following:
Academia
According to an April 15 report in The Philadelphia Inquirer, “the tally of gifts and contracts from China to U.S. universities since the start of 2013 is approaching $1 billion.”The National Association of Scholars reported on April 5 that there are still 18 Confucius Institutes operating near American campuses, which is down from a high of 120.
A more direct influence operation is exemplified by anonymous Chinese donations totaling $54.6 million to the University of Pennsylvania, with most funds coming after the establishment of the Biden Center was announced in 2017, according to the New York Post.
Media
Several large U.S. media corporations—including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC and NBC News, ABC and ESPN, and Bloomberg—have business ties with China, as detailed by The Federalist here: “Representatives from American companies with financial ties to China naturally become defenders of the CCP’s policies and spreading the CCP’s propaganda.”China’s state-run media have frequently purchased advertising in U.S. media in order to influence narratives. According to The Washington Free Beacon: “China Daily paid more than $1.6 million for advertising campaigns in Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Financial Times, and Foreign Policy magazine, according to disclosures filed with the Justice Department.”
Tech Sector
The U.S. technology sector is the mother lode for next-generation technologies sought by Beijing for military and economic reasons. U.S. tech billionaires have long-standing ties to China.Last December, Apple’s Tim Cook signed a $275 billion deal with China.
U.S. lawmakers have expressed concern about the leakage of classified technology from Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX operations in China to Chinese companies.
According to Reuters, “more than 20 Silicon Valley venture capital firms have close ties to a Chinese government fund or state-owned entity.” Venture capital-funded startups in Silicon Valley are frequently the originators of the world’s most advanced and innovative technology developments.
The above are examples from recent news reports of the ongoing corruption of U.S. institutions by the CCP. One result is the suppression of negative news about China, including the Uyghur and Tibetan genocide, forced organ harvesting, the rise of the People’s Liberation Army, and the suppression of COVID-19 information. All of this is intended to hide the emerging Chinese threat from unsuspecting Americans.
Corruption of Public Education
Capture the children; capture the future.Totalitarian regimes such as Nazi Germany (Hitlerjugend or Hitler Youth), Soviet Russia (Komsomol or All-Union Leninist Young Communist League), and communist China (Chinese Communist Youth League) took explicit measures to groom children to conform to the respective state’s political objectives. Accordingly, these regimes understood the need to substitute state control for that of parents in the education of children.
To achieve their own very similar political objectives in grooming successive generations of children, including removing parental controls from the classrooms, U.S. progressives and other leftists began infiltrating the U.S. education system through John Dewey’s reforms over 100 years ago, which emphasized socialization and secularization.
Over the decades, cultural Marxists proceeded to inject increasingly radical ideas into public education in order to groom children: critical theory, radical feminism, climate alarmism, deconstructionism, critical race theory, and transsexualism.
Since 2021, many Americans have been shocked by news reports of their own children being forced to endure the sexual grooming of their children. Here are several recent news reports on the corruption of public education:
- From The Epoch Times on April 14: In response to increasing nationwide news reports about the sexual grooming of children, “[a] March 11–14 poll of registered voters conducted by Politico/Morning Consult found majorities supporting both a ban on classroom teaching about sexual and gender identity through grade three and age-appropriate limitations after that.”
- From the Blaze on April 12: A pro-LGBTQ “eighth grade public school teacher in Oklahoma—who said ‘f***’ parents who ‘don’t love and accept you for who you are’ and ‘I’m your parents now’ in a now-deleted TikTok video—has resigned.”
- From Breitbart News on April 11: “A teacher at a Boston-area charter school revealed to young children she identifies as a male and claimed that when babies are born, doctors can only ‘guess’ if the baby is a boy or a girl, but ‘sometimes the doctor is wrong.’”
The U.S. political class (primarily the Democratic Party and its media enablers) is facilitating the ideological and sexual grooming of American children and removing parents from the control of public education. The results will be a catastrophe for the American republic.
Criminalization of Political Dissent
The Democratic Party is increasingly focused on quashing all political dissent by various means, including the blatant criminalization of political speech protected by the First Amendment.The Democrat’s political enemies are being labeled as extremists and domestic terrorists, with the force of the federal government being used to silence dissent through investigations and prosecutions.
A favorite tactic has been the use of lawfare to achieve the Democrat’s political goals. The premier example is the ongoing congressional investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021 protest at the U.S. Capitol, in conjunction with the incarceration without trial of hundreds of people guilty of nothing more than misdemeanor criminal trespass.
Examples of Democrat-initiated criminalization of political dissent continue to make the news:
- From legal scholar Jonathan Turley’s blog on April 13: Robert Reich, Bill Clinton’s former labor secretary, was called to task for writing an anti-free speech screed for The Guardian condemning Elon Musk’s “vision for the internet,” which Turley stated, “offers an insight into the anti-free speech mentality that has taken hold of the Democratic party and the mainstream media.”
- From The Epoch Times on April 12: From a defense attorney filing on April 12, it has been learned that “[a]t least 20 FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives ‘assets’ were embedded around the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.” The tip of the iceberg.
- From The Epoch Times on April 11: “Two left-wing groups are trying to disqualify two pro-Trump Arizona congressmen and one Arizona state representative, all Republicans, as candidates in approaching elections, for allegedly participating in a supposed insurrection against the U.S. government by supporting the former president’s reelection bid.”
- From National Review on April 9 comes the report of the first acquittal of a Jan. 6 defendant: “A non-criminal who was not accused of any violent act, much less of causing a police officer to die, [Matthew] Martin was found not guilty by Judge Trevor N. McFadden on all four misdemeanor charges.” A clear case of prosecutorial overreach.
- From The Washington Times on Feb. 9: “The DOJ opened an investigation into the alternate slates of electors put forth by the Republican ticket in seven states following the 2020 presidential election, in response to appeals from … Democrats who expect to benefit politically from media coverage of the drama.”
Final Thoughts
The confluence of the six cataclysms is leading to economic, political, and societal disaster in the United States. None of these would be happening without the direct involvement of the U.S. political class. None of these are accidental.Read part I here.
