WTC Visitor Center Thief Sentenced

The thief of more than twelve thousand dollars from the WTC Visitor Center in New York sentenced to jail and five years probation. The money was intended for student education, volunteer programs and preservation of the Tribute Center.

[xtypo_dropcap]E[/xtypo_dropcap]mmanuel Reyes was sentenced to six month in jail, followed by five years of probation, for stealing $12,700 from the Tribute WTC Visitor Center, according to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance’s office.

In September, Reyes pled guilty to the top charge in the indictment against him.

“The defendant took advantage of his access to the Tribute Center’s cash register to steal money donations intended for student education, volunteer programs, and the historical preservation of the Tribute Center,” said DA Vance.
Evan Mantyk is an English teacher in New York and President of the Society of Classical Poets.
