The Trudeau government is planning to bring in more than 400,000 immigrants per year over the next three years, in a bid to boost the recovery of Canada’s economy from the effects of COVID-19.
Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced on Friday that the government aims to accept 401,000 permanent residents in 2021, 411,000 in 2022, and 421,000 in 2023—an increase of about 50,000 for each year.
