A former U.S. ambassador to Canada under the Obama administration says Donald Trump’s pick for the role in Ottawa bodes well for the relationship between the two countries.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Nov. 20 that Pete Hoekstra will be heading to Ottawa to serve as U.S. ambassador once he’s confirmed by the Senate.
