Video: YouTube Singer Daniela Andrade Sings Peanuts’ ‘Christmastime Is Here’ to Her Pet Poodle

Just in time for the Holidays, Canadian-Honduran singer and YouTube sensation Daniela Andrade offers up a beautiful cover of the classic “Christmastime Is Here” (1965) from Peanuts’ “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” With the song being written by Vince Guaraldi and originally sung by a church children’s choir, Andrade takes the simple, jazz-influenced song and adds a special note by including “the cutest dog in the Galaxy,” her dog Dina.

As Andrade sings the soulful cover in a cozy room with warm, dim Christmas lights in the background, Dina nestles up next to her favorite pooch for an evening serende. As Andrade put it in her description of the video: “So if you can’t tell, what me and Dina have is REAL LOVE.”

The internet definitely agreed, as the video of Andrade and her beloved poodle mix has racked up over 6.5 million views on YouTube.

As Andrade plays the opening cords on her electric guitar, Dina, sitting opposite her on a bed, leans in as if drawn by the strings’ warm vibration. The singer continues with the familiar lyrics:

Christmas time is here

Happiness and cheer

Fun for all that children call

And joyful memories there Soon, her sweet dog is so subdued by the mellow sounds that she sits cozily down but still gazes at her singer, as if memorized. As if relishing the time they have to spend together for Christmas, Dina and Andrade are both fully engaged in the moment.

But this isn’t the first time that the sweet dog has helped out with her presence for a Christmas video.

Prior to taking on the beloved Peanuts classic, Andrade had recorded a cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,“ originally sung by the immortal Judy Garland in ”Meet Me in St. Louis” (1944), where Andrade used her same living room and Christmas lights. Again, the sweet Dina is there, cozily soaking in the Christmas vibes—definitely worth a watch.

Andrade sings the poignant lyrics:

Through the years we all will be together

If the fates allow

Until then we'll have to muddle through somehow For Andrade, who grew up in Canada, but left family behind in Honduras, these words are particularly poignant.

At the end of the video, the singer picks up her poodle and wishes all the viewers a great holiday:

“I just wanted to wish you a very merry Christmas. I hoped you guys liked this cover and I hope the season brings all the joy that it can to you and your family.”

Andrade also wrote a message to all her followers, reminding them what the holidays are really about:

“Sleep in, stay warm, and enjoy these precious moments that are but brief and come and go too soon each year in my opinion.”

Whatever else is going on for Andrade as her music career, which started on YouTube and has now blossomed into an EP and touring around the United States and Canada, it’s clear that when Christmas comes around, Dina is a big part of the show.
