Vancouver Prepares for Snow, Alerts Issued

Environmental Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Vancouver, BC. The warning was issued at 11:00 am PST early Friday morning. As of this morning, 5 cm to 10 cm (1.9 - 3.9 inches) of snow has already been reported over the region.

“A cold air mass in combination with moisture from a Pacific low pressure system is giving snow to the British Columbia South Coast”, reported Environmental Canada. 

The snow will gradually turn into rain as it approaches the coast, but snow further inland is expected to accumulate to 2 to 5 cm (0.7 - 1.9 iches) before it turns into showers this afternoon.   

The warning will be active for the next 13 hours.
