US Independence Day: What’s Open, Closed for the Fourth of July

Some businesses remain open on Independence Day, although they may operate on reduced hours.

The United States celebrates its 249th Independence Day on July 4, meaning many services across the country are closed in observance of the national holiday.

Government offices, banks, the stock market, and post offices are closed. Elementary schools, high schools, and colleges are closed.
