Most of the United States should expect a warmer and drought-developing winter this year, while colder and wetter conditions will be restricted to the northern parts of the country, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Winter Outlook released Oct. 17.

The meteorological winter season runs from December 2024 through February 2025.
